Default an E-Prime Dictionary of Idioms - an invitation to wiki!

Hi! I go by Andrew or Nodal Nim, & I have just discovered this delightful forum! I have written occasionally in E-Prime for years, & have just started trying to incorporate it into my speech & thoughts. Have any of you attempted this discipline? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

I've found it very challenging. When getting into creative discussions, I don't have too much trouble sticking with it. Actually, I find small talk more difficult, because so many of our everyday idioms require "to be".

So, I started writing down troublesome phrases, like "My name is Andrew," & figuring out several different ways to rephrase into E-Prime & not sound too terribly awkward. I started an English to E-Prime Dictionary in th form of a wiki, so that anyone who'd like can edit it. You can take a peek at it here:

The E-Prime Dictionary wiki - E-Prime means English without any for...

Anyway, I'd like to invite you to contribute, if you wish! You can edit th Dictionary page to add new entires or edit any of th pages for th individual entries to add new "translations" into E-Prime. You'll just need th password to get started: eprime.

If you have any feedback about th dictionary - its format, th basic concept, whatever - I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

Grinningly,
Andrew / Nodal Nim

Welcome Nodal, does you name have roots from New Zealand?

In response to your question, daily I practice writing e-prime and have found I have become an impressive writer. I conduct workshops in Pakistan specifically in writing memos, business letters and giving presentations in e-prime for the business sector of Karachi. I measure my success rate by the number of participants who have written to me to let me know that they have received promotions because their new communication skills. Lets continue to talk in e-prime. K
