Inalda makes a living as a bank manager
a) "Inalda is a bank manager"
b) "Inalda works as a bank manager"
c) "Inalda works in the capacity of bank manager"
Could "Inalda manages a bank" possibly serve as a substitute for (a), (b) and (c)?

Could "Inalda manages a bank" possibly serve as a substitute for (a), (b) and (c)?
B and C work for e-prime without changing the meaning. You can say Ialda manages a bank. On b, c, and your last statement, I would want to know which part of that bank she manages. Keep up the great work

Karen, thank you!
I did not, at first, think of or picture Inalda -- a randomly picked proper noun -- managing any particular department inside the bank. Anyway, you had me going to Banking Jobs / Financial Resumes | Bankjobs.com in search of a suitable bank job title. Corporate Risk Program Manager! Don't ask me what one eats!

Banks have so many departments, i.e. branch manager, I.T., financial, legal, HR, operations, investment, retail......to name a few.
What are your deadlines?

Hello everybody. I don"t speak english as my native language. But I'd like to manage e-prime. Help me to start. My variant of "What are your deadlines?" looks like this: What deadlines do you use?

Hello Karen! As for the project I have time not to limit myself. And of course I feel happy with the response. Still I can't understand the rules of the game
I know that I must not use be but how to practice?

Joker, google "E-Prime" + "English Prime". Skip all the "English Prime minister" instances that Google will show, though. Read all you can about it. I did so. I have CP'ed many Internet-published articles and writings on EP and saved them to my HD.
Karen has continually helped me understand more and more of it.
Have you ever tried doing it in your own native language? I tried it in mine and it worked!
I think you've just started practicing. Your last posts show it!
-x-x-x-
On the topic.
you're doing fine!

Joker, I have a list of sentences I will give you that I have given to others on this site. I believe from their response that they really enjoyed working out the 'to be' verb in those sentences. Removing the 'to be' verb' means eliminating these passive verbs, 'is, are, be, being, am, was and were. Replace these verbs with descriptive verbs. Below, I have given you sample practice sentences.
1. He is handsome.
2 She was the smartest person in our class.
3 He is a dog hater.
4. She has been there.
5. It is true
6. You are wrong
7. She is untalented
8. I am the best
9. There is no one like me
10. Time is on my side
11. Can you be my partner?
12. Why are you angry?
13. This is terrible food.
14. Your handwriting is terrible
15. are you going tonight?
16. You are the best
17. They all were swimmers
18. We are going
19. You are stupid.
20. This is a book
21. How is this possible?
22. Today is the day!
23. What were you thinking!
24. Your car is dirty!
25. When are you going to learn!
26. He is small
27. It is no use
28. You are wasting your breathe
29. Why are you sitting there?
30. When are you ever happy?
31. How are you
32. They are going to be champions!
33. He will be the winner
34. This is the right way
35. This is it.
36. Why is it like this?
37. Where are you going?
38. Who is it?
39. Where is this place?
If you can do these sentences you are on your way

Marcio, I want to take you to a new level of e-prime. You write perfect e-prime, now lets remove the vague words, i.e. something and other such types of words would include: anything, it, that, those, these, them or anything that you can say more specifically but choose to use a workd that defines more than what you attempted to write.
In your sentence 'If you can do these sentences then you have learned something', you could write it more specifically, and replace the 'something' with learned how to express yourself in e-prime.
are you getting it yet?

K, thank you for calling my attention to the use of vagueness. Indeed, the word "something" appears as one of the most vague or ambiguous.
As for your "Are you getting it yet?" I tentatively thought of "Did you get it yet?"
You will let me know what you reply is going to be, won't you?

Dear Joker, I have cut and pasted your work below with answers that could make your statements better.
1. He is handsome.
He looks handsome.
He has handsome appearance. (He has a handsome appearance.)
He belongs to handsome men. (He belongs to a class of handsome men.)
2 She was the smartest person in our class.
She studied best of all in our class. (Studied best does not imply smartest. You can say, she studied math and ended up with the highest marks in our algebra class.)
3 He is a dog hater.
He hates dogs. (Well done
4. She has been there.
She has visited the place already. (She visited the pyramids already.)
5. It is true
It has no mistakes. (Your term paper has no mistakes.)
6. You are wrong
You err.
You make mistakes. (You and I have a difference of opinion.) (I don't share in your opinion)
7. She is untalented
She has no talents. (She scores 40 pins lower in bowling than her other team bowlers.)
8. I am the best
I feel myself the best. ( Compared to my swim team members, I always come in first in the butterfly stroke.)
9. There is no one like me
I know nobody like me. ( I have never met a person who has as many passions as I have.)
10. Time is on my side (At 45, I feel young enough to perform hajj.)
Time serves me.
11. Can you be my partner?
Can you cooperate with me?
Can we do deals together? (well done
Can you work with me?
12. Why are you angry?
Why do you feel angry?
13. This is terrible food.
This food tastes bad. (I taste too much salt in this food)
Now Joker, you try and do the rest like I have done. Then I will go over the rest of your work. I believe you have great potential for this kind of language. K

My friend Marcio, you still used the word 'it' in your sentence. Define the 'it'. Example; Did you finally figure out that math problem that stumped you for the last 20 minutes.
are you getting it now?
